Could be better: We waited for a while to get a table in the causal restaurant and eventually gave up and went to a venue down the road. Would be good to know when checking in that guests don’t get priority in using the on site restaurants.

Liked: We had very high expectations of our stay at the Halekulani. We had eaten here numerous times over the past few years and always had good experiences which had tempted us in to staying at the Hotel on our next visit. The Rates are high and so we did worry whether we should consider the stay good value for money but immediately we arrived our minds were put at rest. Check in was friendly fast and efficient and we were given a lovely room overlooking the pool and Pacific Ocean. The room was clean and comfortable and had a luxury feel. The air conditioning was working well and the bathroom was large and well supplied. Each day House Keeping took care of all the details and we felt very well looked after. We ate in House without a Key multiple times where we thoroughly enjoyed the evening entertainment (and the Mai Tai's) and the Sunday Buffet at Orchids restaurant was as good as we remembered (though a little disappointed the price did not now include a welcome glass of Prosecco though we had booked it before they changed this option. Minor detail though and it did not spoil our experience. The pool staff are very attentive and although a busy hotel there seemed to be enough sun beds each day. The staff generally were very professional and friendly and the entire Hotel felt quiet and relaxed the entire time despite being busy and being in one of the busiest parts of Waikiki. We cannot wait to go back !

Liked: My wife and I are full-time Big Island residents. We have been traveling to the various Hawaiian islands for decades and have stayed at all of the best hotels on all of the islands. The Halekulani Hotel is definitely the best hotel in Waikiki and certainly one of the best hotels in the entire state. The accommodations, facilities, service as well as the location are simply outstanding. This hotel truly offers the guest a 5 star experience. For Hawaiian citizens there are even kamaaina discounts.

Liked: I don't often say that a Hotel can enhance your stay. Meaning I usually find a quality hotel and assume it will be clean, efficient and provide peaceful sleep. Halekulani goes beyond that. It hits the mark on all the requirements, but it actually provides a peaceful place to stay that balances out the busy Waikiki area. I had never been to Hawaii, so Halekulani turned out to be a great choice. You could do your activity early in the day and then enjoy the pool area and the small beach area it provides. This was a huge plus because the Waikiki beach area is very busy and noisy. The on-site food is great and the House Without a Key is a special experience. The buffet breakfast is outstanding. Enjoy Jazz in the evening at the Lewers Lounge. I loved the fact that you could stay here and feel miles away from Waikiki main drag, but if you wanted to go shopping or get dinner, it was literally just a block away. Its the outcome of the natural location of this hotel on a dead end street, buffered from Waikiki beach by the Sheraton and a jetty. It also turns out that 'Turtle Cove' is just about 200-300 yards straight out from the hotel, so if you are snorkelling person, you could just swim out and do some amazing snorkelling without doing a tour.
